PRETTY AND STUPID

Weed and wine and cigarettes

and making love to strangers,

Romeo and Juliette ain't much without the dangers.

Just two shadows moving fast.

Those questions that they should've asked,

they left them on the curb like trash

to be thrown away.

Sleepless nights and morning lights

and all those pretty colors.

O, the fun of loaded guns,

held gently by a lover.

Say, come on now, lay down your bet,

let's play us some Russian roulette.

Hold me so that both our heads

will be blown away.

She was just a pretty girl

who smiled and said

"Baby I'm down for whatever."

He was just a stupid boy

who liked kissing pretty girls like her

and quietly dreaming about forever.

Busy days and bills to pay,

and meetings in the city.

In a week, no words to speak are heard

from girls so pretty.

All the calls she had to take,

can't break a promise you don't make.

I guess she never felt the ache

of being thrown away.

On the road, in bars for shows,

with whiskey playing cupid.

Singin clear for all to hear,

a boy, some say, is stupid.

Even when he's not alone,

he's sleepin' with the ringer on,

hopin' she'll pick up her phone

and be on the way.

She was just a pretty girl,

who smiled and said

"Baby I'm down for whatever."

He was just a stupid boy

who liked kissing pretty girls like her

and quietly dreaming' about forever.

Spittin' charm and buying' drinks

and slowly growin' chances.

Across the bar,

an eye that winks

and trades him knowing glances.

Say, 'Fancy seein' you my dear,'

watch her smile ear to ear

and all he's learned in all his years,

you see float away.

She was just a pretty girl,

who smiled and said

"Baby I'm down for whatever,"

He was just a stupid boy

who liked kissing pretty girls like her

and quietly dreaming about forever.
